Simulating

lost-love-wallpaper-4

I am torn… divided
not myself at all

You know not what you want
you say your love is for me
then you’re not so sure

We are not one
we are two in separation
simulating love

  2. I believe this world can be a very lonely place. When people don’t connect in an honest and real way it’s as if we have nothing at all, sadly, that behaviour is far too common. Poetry is a great way to explain many emotional aspects of life, that’s something I’m only just beginning to learn. Thank you so much John for your beautiful and thoughtful comment. 🙂

  3. Augustine once stated, “We may find one man savage by love and another man made gentle by iniquity.” Those of whom find displeasure in a selfless surrender will one day be crying out for the essentials of love. The world can be a very lonely place for those who take others for granted. Sooner or later it will catch up with them. Poetry is a wonderful means to capture with the written word the essence of love and the pure divine spiritual ecstasy embraced by two when this selfless surrender honestly takes place allowing thus, the spirit of Love to enter as well into the meaningful union. Bless you for your writing and your beautiful poetry! 🙂

  4. Of course, the other person’s happiness is everything! And if we were all only concerned with that aspect we’d never need to be so concerned about our own unhappiness. I’m sure a lot of unhappy feelings stem from feeling alone with our problems, knowing that others are connected with us in an honest caring way makes all the difference in gaining a possible recovery. Thank you for that, and the compliment too – I never like to waste words!

  5. About the best definition of UNsimulated love I ever read came from Robert Heinlein, who defined love as the condition in which another’s happiness is essential to our own. I think what you’ve written here is a subtle and delicate affirming converse of his definition: of what love is not. I admire that no words of yours were wasted. I’ll be reading more of your writing, for sure!

  7. Oh have I? 🙂 There’s a lot simulating in love, too much really! A pity more souls don’t see what real love is. It’s a very misunderstood part of humanity. Thank you Mike for your encouraging words, it means a lot! 🙂

  8. You have poetically coined a new definition for relationship dynamics. A delightfully creative piece Lizzie, greatly enjoyed.
