And there you were
all alone
damp round the edges
with eyes that said
“I’m a little misplaced!”

I almost cried
then laughed
of course
you’re just a piece of material
stuffed with fluff
with glistening eyes
made to fool the soft in heart

I seated you high
so all could see
and maybe
just maybe
the one who loved you
might miss you enough
to claim you back

The rain dripped from your nose
and I wondered
just how long
you might be waiting
